On August 31, 2009, The Minister of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia has issued a new regulation pertaining to Amateur Radio service, called PERMEN33/2009. The highlights of the new regulation are as follows:
Siaga class (YD/YG - Novice) is now exempt from any code proficiency while Penggalang class (YC/YF - General) requires only 5 WPM code proficiency and Penegak class (YB/YE - Extra) 8 WPM.
The changes to the power allowance to the amateur radio classes are as follows:

2000 W power limit is allowed with a special permit from the national organization for EME/Dxpedition/Int'l Contest. Under new regulation, the limitation on the number of pieces of equipment owned is removed. The 40m band is now expanded to become 7.0 to 7.2 MHz
In addition to the existing 80m (CW and Voice), Siaga class (YD/YG - Novice) can now operate in:
7.0 to 7.2 MHz including voice (used to be 7.000 to 7.035 CW only)
21.0 to 21.2 MHz (CW and Narrow Band (NB) Data)In addition to the existing full 160m, 80m, 40m, 15m, and 10m band privileges, Penggalang class (YC/YF - General) can now operate in:
28.0 to 28.5 MHz (CW and Narrow Band (NB) Data)
14.0 to 14.150 MHz including voiceAdditional of frequency allocation for Penegak class (YB/YE - Extra).
7.1 to 7.2 MHz voice
The 40m band is now expanded to become 7.0 to 7.2 MHz (CW, Digital, and Voice).
