DT8A, South Korea’s Antarctic

DS4NMJ, will once again be active as DT8A from South Korea’s Antarctic King Sejong Station which is located in the Barton Peninsula, South Shetland Islands (IOTA AN-010) for 14 months.

He will leave for South Shetlands on November 29 and will be there between December 5th (2009) to January 31st (2011).

Activity on 160-10 meters – CW, SSB and RTTY.

2 days a go, YB0NFL have received Russian DX Contest 2008 from Russian Commitee.

As a Continental Winner - Single Operator - All Band - HP

KH4, MIDWAY ISLANDS

A multi-national team of 18 operators will activate Midway Island (OC-030) between October 9-19th. The team will sign K4M and will operate from Sand Island (Reference numbers: USI OI-011S and Grid AL18). The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has authorized this amateur operation from this rare U.S. entity for only a 10 day period -- the first radio activity in almost 10 years. Midway Island ranks number 24 world-wide and number 13 in Europe on the DX Magazine’s “Most Wanted List”.

The updated team member list consists of operators: Joe/AA4NN, Franz/DJ9ZB, Max/I8NHJ, Kevin/K6TD, Kimo/KH7U, Craig/K9CT, Don/N1DG, Tom/ND2T, Paul/N4PN, Tom/N4XP, Arnold/N6HC, John/N7CQQ, Dave/ WB4JTT, Charlie/W6KK, Bruce/W6OSP, Art/WA7NB, Joe/W8GEX and James/9V1YC. In addition to the on the air team members, K4M is ably assisted by the following off island support team: Don/AA1V (Web support/online logs), Markus/DL9RCF (European Fund Raising), Dan/W5DNT (Logistics), Paul/W6XA (Radio Setup and Testing) and Margarett(XYL AA4NN - Finance), Janet/W8CAA (Fundraising) and Vrata/OK1KT (QSL Card Procurement).

Martin, ON4PO, will be active as J45PO between October 21-29th.
Operations will be from the SX5P contest station on Rhodes Islands, so look for activity before and after the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 24-25th), especialy on 40 meters.

Activity will be on 80-10 meters using SSB, RTTY and PSK31.
He plans to use 500 watts into a G5RV antenna.

Indonesian Amateur Radio Service Changes

On August 31, 2009, The Minister of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia has issued a new regulation pertaining to Amateur Radio service, called PERMEN33/2009. The highlights of the new regulation are as follows:

Siaga class (YD/YG - Novice) is now exempt from any code proficiency while Penggalang class (YC/YF - General) requires only 5 WPM code proficiency and Penegak class (YB/YE - Extra) 8 WPM.

The changes to the power allowance to the amateur radio classes are as follows:

Penggalang	500 W	200 W
Penegak	1000 W	500 W

2000 W power limit is allowed with a special permit from the national organization for EME/Dxpedition/Int'l Contest. Under new regulation, the limitation on the number of pieces of equipment owned is removed. The 40m band is now expanded to become 7.0 to 7.2 MHz

In addition to the existing 80m (CW and Voice), Siaga class (YD/YG - Novice) can now operate in:

7.0 to 7.2 MHz including voice (used to be 7.000 to 7.035 CW only)

21.0 to 21.2 MHz (CW and Narrow Band (NB) Data)

28.0 to 28.5 MHz (CW and Narrow Band (NB) Data)

In addition to the existing full 160m, 80m, 40m, 15m, and 10m band privileges, Penggalang class (YC/YF - General) can now operate in:

14.0 to 14.150 MHz including voice

Additional of frequency allocation for Penegak class (YB/YE - Extra).

7.1 to 7.2 MHz voice

The 40m band is now expanded to become 7.0 to 7.2 MHz (CW, Digital, and Voice).

PACIFIC TOUR ---> Hrane, YT1AD and Miki, YU1DW will be travelling to a few Pacific islands between 30 September and 8 October as follows:

The main reason for this trip is to prepare all necessary documents for the

expedition to T31,ZK3 and FW8 in September-October 2010

OD5F, Lebanon

The Radio Amateurs of Lebanon (RAL) will be operating special event station OD5F for the duration of the 6th Francophone Games, which will be held in Beirut from 27 September to 6 October.
